About the job

You will:
• work with municipalities to promote the need to foster the development of affordable housing within their communities
• contribute to the development and implementation of multiple land use planning projects
• provide advice with respect to affordable housing processes, including the development process, land use planning, and financial issues
• monitor, track, and report on regional issues

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You are able to travel to areas not accessible by public transit.

Technical Expertise:

• You have good knowledge of provincial affordable and market housing programs, policies and procedures to develop the implementation and management of marketing programs and promote the development of affordable and market housing.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply social housing related legislation, regulations, policies and programs.
• You have general knowledge of land use planning related legislation, regulations, policies, and programs (e.g. Planning Act, Municipal Act, Provincial Policy Statement).
• You have knowledge of and experience in public sector governance, policy development and decision-making processes.

Judgement, Organizational and Project Management:

• You have project management and organizational skills to lead and coordinate projects concurrently and to meet short deadlines.
• You can undertake land use planning projects for analyses, making recommendations/decisions and present testimony at tribunals or public hearings.
• You have good judgement and political acuity to deal with highly visible, complex and politically sensitive issues.

Consultation, Negotiation, and Relationship Management:

• You have consultation and relationship management skills to work effectively and establish credibility with all levels of contacts both internal and external.
• You are able to build and maintain relationships across the organization as well as with external partners in order to gather input, build consensus, and deliver on priorities.

Communication Skills:

• You have demonstrated communication skills to effectively communicate complex information to senior management.
• You can negotiate, advise and collaborate with other ministries, municipal councils and officials, and planning groups.

Research and Analytical Skills:

• You have demonstrated research, analytical, issues management and problem-solving skills to undertake complex studies, analyze information and develop models related to a range of affordable housing and land use planning activities.
