About the job
In this role, you will:
• Co-ordinate the packaging and shipment of goods to customers.
• Co-ordinate the receipt of raw materials and finished goods from suppliers.
• Ensure that goods are stored in stockroom in a secure, orderly manner.
• Maintain accurate, computerized inventory control records.
• Direct and supervise inmates in the day-to-day operation of the stockroom and report behaviour.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Current Emergency First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Heartsaver Certificate, or the ability to obtain upon hire.
• Valid lift truck operator licence.
Technical Knowledge:
• you have knowledge of practices and procedures relating to: shipping and receiving, storage and warehousing, inventory management and computerized inventory control of records
• you have the ability to operate a forklift truck
Health, Safety and Security Knowledge:
• you can provide Emergency First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Heartsaver to respond to medical emergencies
• you have knowledge of the safe operation of material handling equipment including forklifts, pump carts and ladders
• you have knowledge of security practices, techniques and procedures to ensure a safe and secure work area
• you have knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures such as Institution Standing Orders, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Human Rights Code, to supervise offenders in a secured industrial operation and complete documentation
• you have knowledge of practical correctional theory and principles (e.g. offender supervision techniques, security restraint techniques, defusing hostile and aggressive behaviour techniques, and motivation techniques) to perform care, custody and control duties when supervising offenders
Problem Solving Skills:
• you can identify issues and problems associated with a stockroom operation and make recommendations to the supervisor
• you can check safety devices on machinery and equipment for their efficient operation
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• you have the ability to supervise and instruct inmates and maintain discipline and security in a correctional setting
• you have the ability to communicate effectively with management
• you can direct and supervise inmates in the day-to-day operation of the stockroom and report behaviour
