About the job

Reporting to the Director of the Science department, you will work on a team of scientists and research programmers. You will take part in the creation of engaging science experiences, including:

• providing scientific and technological expertise for exhibition, program, and digital experience development
• driving discussions on themes and scientific content of projects
• contributing to the Indigenous and Environmental Frameworks
• ensuring the scientific content of the project is clear, accurate, and effectively communicated
• serving as a scientific resource to the staff and the public

What you bring to the team

Scientific Expertise

• expertise in one or more scientific discipline, such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, geology or equivalent, and Indigenous science
• advanced knowledge a specific science subject, related technologies, and methods, plus a wide view of science and technology.
• comprehension of how science and technology affect society, public attitudes, current trends, and government policies.
• analytical and evaluation skills to determine scientific content

Exhibit, Program and Digital Content Development Skills

• ability to research and develop creative ideas that could be used for exhibits, programs, or digital content
• ability to create methods for turning scientific and technological ideas into practical experiences
• knowledge of the experience development process from idea to prototype to finished product
• research skills to identify sources, field experts and technology within the industry
• ability to represent the OSC in the scientific communities and school settings

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to turn difficult scientific and technical information into easy-to-understand ideas and applications
• effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills for public, professional and media presentations
• proven team leadership skills and ability to foster collaboration and mentor team members
• excellent coordination skills to work in a team environment
• flexibility and consideration in relating to diverse audiences and levels of understanding of science and technology
