Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), an agency of the Ontario Government, supports the province's creative economy by providing innovative programs, services and funding for the film and television, book and magazine publishing, interactive digital media and music industries.
We have an exciting opportunity for a proven manager to serve as Ontario's Film Commissioner, and provide leadership, direction and expertise to promote and support Ontario's film and television industries.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Serve as Ontario's Film Commissioner promoting Ontario at home and abroad as a jurisdiction of choice for production activityManage;
• Mange a range of direct services to film and television production decision makers to facilitate access to Ontario locations and services;
• Manage critical business relationships, and facilitate high level negotiations and linkages with key stakeholders, and between domestic and foreign companies;
• Oversee local, national and international marketing, public relations and promotional programs, campaigns and outreach initiatives;
• Develop operational plans, performance measures and evaluation strategies;
• Manage the digital location library team;
• Provide leadership, and oversee financial and human resources management.
How do I qualify?
Knowledge
• You have knowledge of the production process, business, marketing and sales business development and management methods, techniques and practices, with special focus on the current development, trends and needs of the film and television industries
• You can provide leadership and expertise in the development and delivery of film and television programs and services
• You have knowledge of the issues, concern and demands of the film and television industries and their infrastructures
Management and Leadership Skills
• You can provide leadership, coaching and direction to staff
• You have knowledge of sound human resources practices to manage staff and foster a strong committed team
• You can plan, organize, coordinate and control the work of the office
Business Relationship, Negotiation and Consultation Skills
• You can manage critical business relationships with clients, sponsors and stakeholders
• You can provide sound consultation and business development advice
• You can negotiate and secure partnerships
Program Design and Marketing Skills
• You have knowledge of program design, development, delivery and evaluation methods
• You have knowledge of marketing, promotion and advertising principles and practices
Communication, Presentation and Interpersonal Skills
• You can prepare and present options and strategies, and represent the OMDC at industry events and functions
