What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:
• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate music therapy programs for visually impaired and blind students within an individual or group format, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team;
• Provide training, educational and consultative services to staff/students/community;
• Assess student needs;
• Maintain clinical records;
• Participate in the development of departmental policies, procedures and services;
• Participate/conduct research projects, audit and quality assurance activities;
• Supervise students' training and evaluate their performance;
• Conduct seminars/workshops.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• Knowledge of the practice of music therapy, treatment techniques for students with visual impairment plus developmental disabilities and/or emotional behavioural disorders;
• The successful candidate will be required to provide an original, satisfactory criminal reference check, including vulnerable sector screening (dated within the last six months), as deemed suitable by the employer, prior to the commencement of employment.
Skills and Qualifications:
Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements:
• Experience working with students with visual impairment;
• Demonstrated consultation, organization and project management skills;
• Demonstrated research techniques;
• Advanced presentation skills;
• Excellent communication/interpersonal/organizational skills;
• Demonstrated application and knowledge of relevant legislation, i.e., Child and Family Services Act.
