The Ontario Heritage Trust is dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario's rich and varied heritage.

We need a natural heritage professional to effectively and efficiently manage the administration of our natural heritage property and easement portfolios.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
- build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders
- assist in the negotiation of partnership agreements
- conduct regular inspections of Trust owned and Trust easement properties and prepare site audit reports
- support the acquisition of new natural properties and easements
- recommend, implement and deliver natural heritage policies and programs
- provide technical advice to management and stakeholders on natural heritage conservation

How do I qualify?

Mandatory:

- You are willing, prepared and able to travel unsupervised throughout Ontario to urban, rural and isolated locations and conduct site visits on natural heritage properties.

Technical Expertise:

- You have knowledge of natural heritage conservation principles and the natural heritage conservation community in Ontario
- You have an understanding of ecological science, Ontario native flora and fauna, ecological land classification (ELC), invasive species, and stewardship planning

Research and Analysis Skills:

- You have experience researching, analyzing and synthesizing information from a broad variety of sources in order to prepare reports, briefings and provide effective advice
- You are able to understand and analyze natural heritage conservation policy, interpret regulations, policies and processes and apply them to specific real world circumstances

Planning and Organizational Skills:

- You have planning, organization and priority-setting skills to ensure that projects and assignments are properly planned and prioritized to meet deadlines

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

- You have oral and written communication skills and can convey the natural heritage principles and values of the Trust clearly and without ambiguity
- You have interpersonal skills and can build lasting and effective business partnerships

Computer Skills:

- You have computer skills including familiarly with standard MS Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Access and SharePoint)
