IT Source is currently looking for a highly skilled IT professional to join our top performing team, working on a variety of projects to deliver services to the citizens of Ontario. These projects are primarily accountable for the infrastructure design and services in support of multiple ministry requirements, including hosting hardware and software in support of applications.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Senior Solutions Designer you will:
• Undertake the design, development and implementation of specific business solutions which drive services, projects and activities to meet customer needs.
• Lead and participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive business solutions across the OPS.
• Provide consultative and advisory services to end users to identify solution technologies which will facilitate business practices.
• Ensure that all solutions and systems proposals maintain strategic integrity and meet the performance requirements of the ministry's corporate architecture for telecommunications.
• Develop, foster and manage business relationships with clients and partners to develop solutions.
• Sponsor service projects and activities to create “best practices” solutions.
• Participate in intra-and inter-ministry committees and projects.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge:

• You have knowledge and experience with integrated networking technologies, mainframe/midrange servers and related best practices.
• You have knowledge of directory and messaging formats (such as Active Directory, authentication services, Enterprise Email services, Blackberry Enterprise Services, Smart Phone and Mobile Technology infrastructure and platform solutions).
• You have knowledge of standard facilities infrastructure and architecture management, and facility service delivery processes.
• You have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of corporate I&IT information management mandates, infrastructure policies and procedures to provide advice, lead, and coordinate technology solutions.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of installation, testing and performance, and capacity assessment of integrated, multi-service systems.
• You have demonstrated experience developing technical documentation.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• You have proven understanding of leading edge technologies, technology developments (trends and new products), design criteria, to apply accepted technology and design methods, and security and recovery procedures.
• You have knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and change management methodologies to comply with the framework for all Information Technology infrastructure development and management.
• You have risk assessment skills to evaluate options, select and support best solutions.

Communication Skills:

• You can elicit cooperation from, and share information on solutions projects, technology, methodology and tools with stakeholders, client management, and program staff.
• You can convey technical information, and provide convincing explanations, options and recommendations for diverse internal and external, technical and non-technical audiences.
• You can discuss and develop support for recommendations on network development requirements, plans and strategies; and illustrate cost/benefits of various options.

Leadership Skills:

• You can provide consultation and advise to project staff and end users on solution technologies to facilitate business practices and promote the cost-effective application of solutions that satisfy client requirements.
• You can define and resolve differences between customer requirements and proposed/available technologies and solutions.
• You can provide advice and obtain support for solutions recommendations and business cases, and liaise with vendors to map functional requirements for product and services solutions.

Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

• You have the ability to analyze, investigate, and lead the design and development of specific business solutions which drive services, projects and activities to meet customer business requirements.
• You can evaluate next generation solutions based on technology, risk and business value, and make recommendations regarding the potential application of new technologies, trends, methodologies and concepts.
