The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, Ontario Shared Services seeks customer-focused individuals to deliver high-quality procurement services to its clients.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• provide procurement advice and options to customers regarding best procurement methods and cost efficient processes;
• develop, prepare, coordinate and review requests for proposals, tenders, contracts and request for information, including consulting services;
• ensure compliance to procurement policy, standard and legislative requirements;
• participate in the delivery of procurement training and conduct information sessions for clients on procurement policies, procedures and best practices.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

• You have thorough knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures and contracts to provide procurement advice to customers regarding best procurement methods, and to review procurement documents for completeness and compliance with policies.
• You have thorough knowledge of tender and request for proposal processes to develop proposals and contracts.

Analytical and Reviewing Skills:

• You can review and clarify information to ensure a clear understanding of customer procurement requirements to determine the appropriate purchasing method to use.
• You can provide customers with procurement options.
• You have problem solving skills to advise clients of risks/issues and make recommendations.
• You can review tenders, requests for proposals and request for information, and ensure all mandatory clauses are included.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You can provide customer service skills to deliver client-focused services.
• You can communicate information to unsuccessful clients and vendors.
• You are able to liaise with legal services on document preparation.
• You can provide clarification and explanations of procurement policies and procedures.
• You have written communication skills to prepare recommendations and written procurement materials.

Research and Evaluation Skills:

• You can keep apprised of changes to policies, procedures and guidelines and ensure all changes are incorporated into standard documents for tendering and legal agreements.
• You can evaluate proposals, apply evaluation criteria and confirm evaluation committees' recommendations.

Organizational and Project Management Skills:

• You can establish and manage timely completion of competing priorities and organize concurrent procurement projects.
• You can work collaboratively on cross branch projects and activities within a team oriented, project environment.

Computer Skills:

• You have computer proficiency with various software applications such as word processing, and spreadsheet databases, to input data, prepare tender documents, legal agreements and spreadsheets.
