Are you looking for a challenging opportunity to utilize your strong senior management, consensus and relationship-building experience? Consider this role where you will develop, coordinate and set direction for the delivery of the ministry's field enforcement program.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
• provide advice and direction to Enforcement Managers at both the regional and branch level;
• provide strong leadership on behalf of the branch to improve accountability, ensure consistent application of law, policy, training and enforcement program direction, professionalism and reduction of risk.

Please note: This position may be located at either of these two addresses, and will be determined based on the location of the successful candidate:

• 1 Stone Road, Guelph, or
• 300 Water Street, Peterborough

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You must have the ability to be appointed as a Conservation Officer, which includes:
- Ability to pass psychological/physical assessments to determine suitability and fitness for appointment.
- Possession of a valid class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario, with ability to travel within the service area.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid first aid/CPR certificate.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator's Card.
- Possession of, or the ability to pass the examination for an Ontario Hunting Licence.
- Completion of, or ability to successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course.
• You are willing and able to undergo an enhanced level employment security screening check as part of the recruitment process.

Management and Leadership skills:

• You have the demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff using knowledge gained of management practices including performance management, discipline, recruitment and collective agreement application and financial management.
• You have shown the ability to facilitate sound labour relations.
• You have project management experience to plan, assign and monitor work plans as well as other multi-region special initiatives.

Communication and Interpersonal skills:

• You have a proven track record of building strong relationships, consensus, partnerships and commitment among a diverse team, both internal and external.
• You have demonstrated communication skills to represent the ministry on working groups, respond to media on high level enforcement issues and prepare senior management briefings and reports in an articulate and professional manner.

Technical knowledge:

• You have comprehensive knowledge of natural resource compliance and enforcement principles, practices and programs, operational law enforcement policies, practices and programs, risk-based planning and analysis.
• You have sound knowledge of related legislation/regulations to ensure that operations are in accordance with provincial/legislative requirements and case law.

Program Delivery knowledge and skills:

• You have knowledge of the policy development process, program research, analysis, and evaluation to assess proposed legislative changes and support the development and continuous improvement in the operational aspects of the provincial enforcement program.
