The Ministry of Government & Consumer Services ITS Process Operations Branch seeks a results oriented IT professional to provide technical expertise and ensure operational availability and reliability within the Servers support team.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will: provide highly specialized technical leadership and co-ordination for ITS most complex midrange systems administration activities and projects which support 24/7/365 operations; provide authoritative, specialized systems administration technical expertise and leadership; recommend related solutions, systems management tools and options, to enhance the managed server hosting service capability of providing OPS technical solutions, server availability, customer web content quality and customer data access.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
expertise in supporting distributed system operations and midrange UNIX systems, in a demanding 7x24x365 multi-vendor, multi-client environment, using approved IT operations standards and best practices. Comprehensive knowledge of and advanced skills in a high-availability multi-platform operations environment, including: Current UNIX – Solaris, HP/UX, IBM AIX, Linux; UNIX server hardware; storage area networks (SANs) and enterprise backup solutions for host and mid-tier environments; host/server and application services administration, TCP/IP-SNA internetworking and firewalls (CheckPoint and PIX), messaging (Microsoft Exchange, Sendmail), database environments (Oracle, DB/2, IMS, SQL), indexing, scripting, servlets. Advanced, senior level experience in providing incident response, service restoration, root cause analysis, configuration and change management discipline. Strong project management, delegation, technical analysis and assessment skills. Ability to make recommendations to balance service and business requirements, goals, and standards. Strong communications and presentation skills. Demonstrated skills in managing inter-team relationships, leading effectively in a matrix environment, and working flexibly and independently to achieve established goals.
You will be required to provide support 7/24/365 on an on-call rotational basis.
