Are you dedicated to enforcing compliance with environmental legislation and investigating environmental challenges? Then consider this ideal opportunity to do just that with the Ministry of the Environment, Sector Compliance Branch.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will respond to issues of high environmental concern by carrying out field inspections related to land, air, water, and waste. This will include assessing compliance with legislation, regulations and procedures, and assessing impact of non-compliance situations. You will also provide technical expertise and advice, report findings and develop briefing documents as well as testify in legal proceedings.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental
sciences, industrial processes and pollution control; knowledge of relevant environmental legislation (e.g. Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Pesticides Act, etc.). Knowledge of applying inspection and enforcement procedures and techniques (e.g. sample collection and field measurement techniques, rules of evidence and court procedures). Knowledge of vehicle pollution control, equipment, measuring and testing procedures. Strong analytical, evaluative, problem solving, issues management, and conflict resolution skills. Proven oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team environment. Proven judgment and negotiation skills. Knowledge of computer software applications (e.g. MS Office). Valid Class G Ontario driver's license.
Must be willing to travel throughout the province of Ontario.
