What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• provide business leadership for maintenance and administration of province-wide forest compliance operations information systems
• lead the provincial program for compliance training and certification
• provide strategic advice on legislation, policy, program and operational initiatives related to forest compliance
• assist in the operational coordination of the forest compliance program
• prepare reports and make recommendations for improvements
• provide analysis of compliance findings from independent forest audit reports
• respond to compliance information requests from forest industry clients, legal community and stakeholder groups

How do I qualify?

Technical knowledge:
• You have a thorough knowledge of theory, principles and practices of forest resource management.
• You have sound knowledge of forest management monitoring, evaluation and reporting programs.
• You have a demonstrated understanding of all aspects of the forest compliance program.
• You have ability to interpret and apply related legislation, regulation, policies, procedures and programs applicable to forestry.

People skills:
• You have strong negotiation and interpersonal skills and are able to facilitate cooperation between clients and partners.
• You have effective presentation and communication skills and are able to provide advice and present recommendations.
• You have proven group leadership skills.

Analytical and problem solving skills:
• You have proven analytical and problem solving skills.
• You have the ability to review and analyze data, and evaluate information to confirm adherence to legislation and policies.

General skills:
• You have strong project management, organizational and coordinating skills.
• You have the ability to set priorities, perform a variety of assignments and work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• You have a sound knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database, email and forest operations compliance information systems.

Mandatory requirements:
• You have a valid driver's licence and ability to travel to conduct certification sessions and field investigations.
• You have a valid Forest Operations Compliance Inspection Certificate or ability to obtain.
