Do you have knowledge of risk management and emergency planning? Do you have strong communication skills and the ability to develop and implement training based on Ministry Corporate requirements? If so, the Corporate Services Management Division of the Ministry of the Attorney General is seeking your expertise for the role of Senior Program Advisor, Emergency Management.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
•provide expertise, advice and guidance regarding potential emergency issues at the agency, branch and divisional level
•develop and implement emergency response plans
•interpret and apply emergency management guidelines, policy and procedures to ministry management and committees
•prepare reports for presentation to senior ministry managers and consultants responsible for the development, recommendation and implementation of corrective action plans
•work with the Project Lead to design and deliver training programs that support the continuous improvement of emergency plans
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Technical Skill and Knowledge
You have:
•knowledge of emergency plans, fire codes, and emergency responsiveness
•knowledge of the Emergency Management Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Trespass to Property Act and standards related to emergency management approaches and implementation
•knowledge of risk management, control frameworks and operational control systems
•ability to acquire and apply knowledge of ministry business, administrative structures, management processes and external and internal reporting requirements to provide analysis in a sensitive environment
Organizational and Analytical Skills
•you have effective organizational and analytical skills to plan and coordinate reviews of emergency programs and to recommend solutions to complex and contentious issues
Training and Development Skills:
You have:
•knowledge of training and development concepts such as, adult learning principals, group dynamics and needs analysis
•ability to initiate, develop and adapt training based on corporate requirements
Oral and Written Communication Skills
You have:
•written communication skills to prepare comprehensive briefing notes, incident reports, content for emergency planning documents and intranet web pages
•oral communication skills to conduct presentations, deliver training programs and liaise with a variety of stakeholders
Computer Skills
You have:
•working knowledge of computer applications such as, spreadsheets, word processing, intranet, internet and e-mail
•knowledge of databases to extract and analyze information and prepare recommendations and reports
