What can I expect to do in this role?

In this exiting opportunity, you will:

• direct and guide the development of policy and guidelines with respect to Ontario's Far North land use planning
• coordinate policy development activities with the federal government, other provinces, ministries and Aboriginal communities
• contribute to the branch's business plans, strategies and policies
• lead communication planning and issue management
• monitor, review and evaluate performance measures and outcomes
• prepare and present reports and briefings

Technical Knowledge and Experience

• You have knowledge and experience with natural resources programs, policy and planning systems
• You have knowledge of First Nation's culture and tradition, including understanding of Aboriginal communities' stake in the Far North
• You have understanding of strategic directions, objectives, priorities and legislation with respect to Ontario's Far North and ability to acquire and apply related programs, policies and planning systems

Leadership and Management Skills

• You can provide leadership, supervision, guidance and direction to staff including performance management and development

Relationship Management, Consultation and Negotiation Skills

• You have the ability to engage, maintain and develop effective working relationship with staff and stakeholders
• You can resolve resource planning and management issues and problems

Analytical, Problem Solving, Conflict Resolution and Mediation Skills

• You can identify, analyze and resolve issues
• You have the ability to initiate and develop new approaches to problem areas

Communication and Presentation Skills

• With your verbal and written communication and presentation skills you can identify issues, make recommendations, provide rationale and lead meetings

Project Management Skills

• You can plan, assist and monitor work plans
• You can integrate and coordinate project, policy and service delivery
