If you are interested in broadening your policy expertise across a number of high profile government initiatives, consider this challenging opportunity with the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The Infrastructure Finance Unit is responsible for developing new approaches to capital investment, financial modeling and analysis related to infrastructure finance and procurement.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• develop policy and financial advice for senior executives within the Ministry, Treasury Board/Management Board of Cabinet and Cabinet committees
• perform due diligence analysis of infrastructure projects and proposals
• lead and perform complex research, modeling and forecasting on a wide range of infrastructure investment and financing issues
• prepare and present specialized briefings and presentations on policy options and recommendations to senior management
• develop and maintain networks of contacts and build working relationships with partner ministries and other stakeholders

Technical expertise
You have:
• extensive experience in public policy planning including carrying out high-profile policy projects to a successful conclusion
• expert knowledge in budget and capital planning and allocation processes in order to understand and prepare budget documents, assist with strategic financial planning and the annual provincial budget, including the analysis of submissions for results-based planning process, as well as lead and perform complex research, modeling and forecasting
• expert understanding of public finance and infrastructure issues in order to assist strategic decision-making and priority-setting in the capital planning and allocation process

Demonstrated research, analytical and quantitative skills
You can:
• conduct due diligence and financial reviews of programs, projects and investment proposals by applying accounting concepts in financial analysis
• lead advanced research and analysis on assigned infrastructure sectors

Demonstrated judgement, political acuity, strategic thinking and issues management skills
You can:
• advance the interest of the division and branch while liaising with other ministries, central agencies, crown agencies and external partners
• make recommendations to senior management on infrastructure policy and planning initiatives

Proven consultation, negotiation and relationship management skills
You can:
• advise senior management on the province's capital plan and financial allocations to ministries
• build and maintain networks and working relationships with stakeholders

Demonstrated oral and written communication and presentation skills
You can:
• effectively communicate and present advice and analysis of complex policy issues to senior executives and decision makers through a variety of products
