The Ontario Public Service (OPS) is looking for an enthusiastic individual with strong knowledge of usability principles, as well as business and IT process design to join the Ministry of Transportation, Road User Safety Modernization branch. In this position, you will be responsible for the user experience design of a modernization system solution.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• provide technical leadership in the development of the usability strategy
• define usability requirements in collaborations with end user groups
• be in collaboration with user groups, evaluate and provide acceptance to usability deliverables provided by the vendor
• ensure system solution meets usability requirements
• develop and execute usability testing and validation strategy

How do I qualify?

Technical and Business Knowledge

You have:
• demonstrated knowledge of business transformation processes and requirements
• knowledge of business processes, business procedure, and associated performance metrics
• knowledge of usability principles, issues and techniques
• demonstrated knowledge of information technology disciplines, including architecture, application design, development, testing and maintenance
• the ability to coordinate the development of standards for usability and the selection of vendor solutions that best meets usability practice goals
• demonstrated knowledge and experience in large system modernization initiatives

Consultation, Negotiation, Communication and Technical Leadership Skills

You have:
• demonstrated consultation, negotiation, communication and client service skills to act as advisor with senior management and negotiate service level agreements and vendor contracts
• technical leadership skills to oversee teams, provide motivation and foster teamwork

Project Management and IT Computer Skills

You have:
• demonstrated project management skills to plan and lead concurrent projects, services and activities
• demonstrated program and portfolio management skills to plan, integrate, deliver and support testing work
• knowledge of methodologies to analyze and develop strategies to meet user requirements
• risk identification skills to neutralize risks resulting from testing and to make recommendations on risks identified through testing
• the ability to manage contractor, vendor relationships and work with third party solution providers
• proficiency with common office software to schedule, track and report on projects, create reports and presentations, produce correspondence and coordinate activities
