Do you possess advanced communications skills? Consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, LHIN (Local Health Integrated Network) Relations and Coordination, to coordinate high profile issues and to work in a team-based environment to prepare quality responses in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Act as a focal point of contact between the branch and the division, and other executive offices to effectively coordinate communication and information requests;
• Ensure timely, accurate and quality preparation of responses to requests for information by identifying the required information, working with staff to produce required products;
• Plan and coordinate a range of activities related to the contentious issues, and prepare briefing materials for various audiences including senior management, media and the general public;
• Draft briefing materials, correspondence and issues notes as required relating to the information requests and general communication needs of the branch;
• Monitor a variety of sources such as news clippings, debates in legislature, reports and journal articles to identify contentious issues related to the work of the branch.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Experience:

• You understand and can interpret acts and regulations and other technical documents relating to long-term care homes and programs and policies.
• You understand issues management, policy development, planning and decision-making processes.
• You have experience in providing senior level issues management and communication support to highly technical, regulated and compliance based programs.
• You are familiar with Ontario's health system.

Organizational, Leadership and Project Management Skills:

• You can effectively determine priorities and coordinate a variety of activities to meet strict deadlines.
• You have the ability to maintain quality control by reviewing responses prepared by staff and revising accordingly.

Research, Problem Solving and Analytical Skills:

• You can identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to complex problems.
• You can analyze data and evaluate and conduct research to identify possible contentious issues.
• You have knowledge of planning and analytical techniques, including policy analysis and evaluation methodologies.

Interpersonal, Consultation and Communication Skills:

• You possess excellent oral and written communications skills and have experience in preparing various briefing materials, correspondence and issues notes within tight timelines.
• You possess superior interpersonal, consultation and coordination skills and are able to work with a diverse group of people.
• You can evaluate and respond to complex information requests, including various briefing materials, correspondence and issues notes.
• You have the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
