The Transportation Planning Branch of the Ministry of Transportation is seeking an experienced, innovative and results-oriented manager to lead the development of long-range, multi-modal forecasts, plans and strategies to ensure that Ontario's long term transportation system meets future economic, social and environmental needs.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As the Manager, Systems Analysis and Forecasting Office (SAFO), you will:

• Lead and mentor a team of professional staff working on the development of travel and economic tools and analysis, in support of transportation plans and policies, including major studies for the Greater Golden Horseshoe and Northern Ontario

• Champion the use and development of multi-modal transportation models and provide forecasts and systems analysis for the provincial transportation system

• Lead major provincial and cross-regional data collection initiatives and travel surveys

• Coordinate activities with transportation agencies including Metrolinx, TTC, regional municipalities, academic institutions, federal government and other jurisdictions in data collection, demand forecasting, and multi-modal transportation models

• Undertake surveys, model development or refinement, and analysis for special projects such as managed lanes, high speed rail, and transit investments

• You have demonstrated experience engaging and empowering staff and promoting a strong organizational culture of high-performance
• You have demonstrated experience promoting a culture of inclusion, diversity and accountability in a fast-paced and high profile environment

Technical Expertise:

• You have demonstrated knowledge of transportation, land use and growth planning processes to provide advice
• You have demonstrated experience translating strategic policy and planning objectives, into quantifiable performance metrics to support evidence-based planning.
• You have an understanding of the fundamentals of data collection, research and analytical processes
• You have experience applying freedom of information and privacy legislation, best practices and requirements

Relationship Management:

• You have experience building, maintaining and leveraging strong networks and relationships with stakeholders, partners, and clients to deliver sound forecasts and analysis to support plans and investment strategies
• You have demonstrated good judgement, political acuity and organizational awareness in managing issues.
• You are a strong negotiator who can influence others to find business oriented and collaborative solutions for complex issues.
