In this position, you will be responsible for: supporting the creation, design and development of web-based applications for EO's stakeholders, implementing visual and technical elements to delivery a visually appealing and highly satisfactory user experience.

What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Manager, DevOps, you will:
• Develop web applications using extensive knowledge of Microsoft frameworks and user requirements and translate user requirements into application specifications, integration and component-based web application code and implementation strategies, ensuring compliance with EO brand/communications objectives, industry and web accessibility standards, relevant legislation and regulations.
• Maintain the applications on an on-going basis, including troubleshooting problems/issues by applying industry standards and best practices to enhance user satisfaction, usability and productivity.
• Work closely with project team members and the Manager to define project requirements and establish project parameters for UI design, application development projects, write proposals for design work, determine UI content, based on user requirements, and in consultation with Business Analysts/Product Owners and third-party contractor technical team.
• Identify web application system risks and obstacles and escalate these issues to project leadership on a timely basis to ensure project deliverables meet project timelines.
• Conduct code refactoring activities to clarify and simplify the design of existing code and improve maintainability of the code base.
• Develop code for web applications and collaborate with vendors for development testing, code reviews, deployments of functional changes and/or bug fixes.
• Provide practical solutions to application specifications and technical design issues/needs, based on industry best practices to a wide range of complex problems/challenges.
• Provide updates on development tasks via discussions and status reports in written, verbal, or graphical form as required.
• Provide work estimates for their own development tasks and review work estimates of vendors and consultants.
• Diagnose user problems with using web applications (through UAT and regular use once application is launched).
• Test code changes in multiple browsers to ensure cross-browser compatibility with multiple platforms and AODA compliance ensuring web designs/applications appear as intended on various platforms.
• Document web/web application development/design procedures and standards of content and publishing to create a guide/manual for future reference by the unit team.
• Work closely with other Developers and other IT units, ensuring business needs are met.
How do I qualify?
What you need to qualify:
• Knowledge and understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment) and Client Side technologies, including knowledge and skills in the use of: Angular 14+,.NET 6+, .NET Framework 4.6 + , Microsoft Entity Framework. , Power Automate , Power BI, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, TypeScript, C# and related web technologies, RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming, Microsoft Azure cloud.
• Knowledge of object-oriented software development techniques (OOD/OOP) Objective Oriented Analyst and Object Oriented Programming to apply the right design to web/web application projects.
• Proficiency in development tools like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, or other IDEs/text editors commonly used in Angular development.
• Knowledge and skills to work with source control (Azure DevOps, GIT) to be able to apply the code changes and store the code in a central repository for effective tracking purposes.
• Knowledge of industry/international standards, web accessibility standards, implementation and testing tools to apply new technologies, services, products and keep up to date and adapt to new/designs/technologies and make EO digital products continuously relevant to its users/audiences.
• Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, standards (e.g., Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, French Language Services Act) relating to online design, clear writing and visual identity.
• Knowledge of Visual Studio Team Services for collaboration, planning and tracking work across the DevOps team.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jasmine or Karma for unit testing Angular components and services, as well as tools like Protractor for end-to-end testing.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
