Join the Superior and/or Ontario Courts of Justice to provide confidential legal secretarial and administrative services for Judges in a high volume, fast paced environment.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:

• prepare correspondence and legal documents;
• take/transcribe dictation and edit Judges' correspondence;
• provide reception services;
• maintain/manage calendars and schedules;
• make travel arrangements;
• process invoices, travel claims and expense accounts;
• maintain office supplies;
• log incoming/outgoing court documents and process mail;
• maintain filing system;
• access information on mainframe database.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory:

• typing speed of 50 words per minute;
• shorthand or dicta to ministry standards.

Legal Secretarial, Office & Courts Procedure Knowledge:

• knowledge of legal secretarial, administrative, office and court procedures;
• knowledge of legal documents, formats, policies and legal terminology;
• knowledge of financial processes to ensure purchasing procedures are followed.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

• excellent oral and written communication skills;
• interpersonal skills and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information and to deal effectively with the legal profession, judiciary, staff members and the public.

Prioritization & Judgment Skills:

• organizational skills;
• ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines;
• judgment and analytical skills to research and respond to inquiries and resolve conflicts.

Computer Skills:

• proficient ability using mainframe database and PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Intranet.
