What can I expect to do in this role?
Within a systemic change and anti-racism organizational change context - valuing diversity, your role will include:
- Assisting with assessment of young persons in conflict with the law to identify educational reintegration needs
- Supporting therapeutic reintegration plans
- Facilitating the coordination, planning and development of individualized and/or group reintegration programs
- Fostering and maintaining relationships with school boards and community partners
- Providing skill-based programming such as vocational, technical trades, literacy support, school readiness, and other therapeutic reintegration activities
- Supervising volunteers engaged in reintegration activities
- Fostering a healthy and respectful work environment consistent with Ontario Public Service values and Code of Conduct
- Coordinating individual needs of youth off-site in collaboration with the Case Management Team.
How do I qualify?
Your technical knowledge and abilities will include:
- Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation counseling principles, theories, and techniques
- Proven knowledge of reintegration theories and methodologies
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to establish education reintegration programs for a diverse population of young persons in conflict with the law
- Knowledge of reintegration programs, community resources, the business and industrial community and voluntary organizations
- Knowledge of youth justice system legislation, assessment tools and protocols to support programming and planning
- Knowledge of professional standards of therapeutic reintegration and rehabilitation disciplines
- Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural diversity and an understanding of issues related to workplace harassment and discrimination.
Your skills will include:
- Assessment and counseling skills to design effective, responsive individual education reintegration plans
- Analytical and professional reintegration and rehabilitation skills to determine the suitability of education reintegration activities
- Demonstrated skills in designing individual reintegration programs
- Programming skills to develop a broad range of reintegration activities
- Organization skills to monitor progress of a large number of clients
- Verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact with youth in a tactful and sensitive manner
- Written communication skills to write plans, reports and other materials.
Mandatory requirements:
- Ability to work flexible hours based on program requirements; and able to travel within the community as part of education reintegration planning.
Note: A vulnerable sector CPIC is required for the successful candidate.
