Bring your interest and skill in application development to the Government Services Cluster (GSC), where team-oriented individuals lead the development, implementation and maintenance of enterprise information technology solutions and services. What can I expect to do in this role?

With a focus on middleware design, development and support, you will:
• Provide technical leadership in the technical design, development, and implementation of complex I&IT solutions and applications
• Lead the development of middleware applications and components including back-end integration using web services
• Provide systems development, programming and consulting expertise to meet client business needs
• Facilitate IT requirement review and establish priorities
• Develop procedures for and support production systems
• Complete research activities to establish technology direction, strategy, standards and best practices working with colleagues across the Cluster and enterprise

How do I qualify?

You have experience with computer systems technologies, including:

• Demonstrated development experience using J2EE, HTML/DHTML, XML/XSL, DB2, Oracle, ASP and ASP.Net, VB 6 and VB.Net, Websphere Suite including Application Server, Websphere Portal Server, WebSphere Process Management, WebSphere JRules, Lotus Forms, Microsoft IIS, Domino
• Knowledge of emerging technologies (Web Services, Portal, JSR 168/286, Web 2.0, Electronic Forms, Content Management, e-commerce, etc.)

You have experience with systems design and development life cycle, including:

• Object-oriented (OO) techniques and methodologies
• Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) design and modeling tools and techniques
• Knowledge of Rational Unified Process (RUP), Unified Modeling Language (UML), systems analysis, application architecture, client/system needs definition, design/development, testing, implementation, documentation and support
• Knowledge of converting business requirements to technical design including wireframes, portlets, portlet intercommunications, data modeling and application design

Technical Team Leadership Skills:

• You have demonstrated technical team leadership in the technical design, development and implementation of complex technical solutions and portal applications

Analysis and Problem Solving Skills:

• You can assess information, define requirements and design alternatives including data and functional model
• You have demonstrated experience evaluating and recommending development techniques, software and technologies

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You have experience discussing technical processes and designs and interacting with users and staff
• You have proven ability to prepare analyses, recommendations, business cases, technical specifications, documentation and manuals
