Are you a conscientious and well-organized Registered Nurse? Do you have a strong commitment to the care and well-being of others? If your answer is yes, please consider this rewarding opportunity with the health care team at the Cecil Facer Youth Centre in Sudbury.

Please note the following:
• both positions will be on-call irregularly scheduled (0 - 40 hours per week)
• one position requires advanced level oral French language skills
• both positions are required to work shifts (day and evening) and weekends (the successful candidates must be available for work when called in).

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Nurse, you will work on an assigned shift to provide diversified nursing services.

You will:
• conduct health assessments
• provide emergency intervention
• dispense medication
• liaise with other professionals and correctional staff

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• You must have a current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• You must possess a current CPR and First Aid certification or have the ability to obtain one.
• You are willing to work shifts (day and evening) and weekends and be available when called in.
• You must possess advanced level oral French language skills (to be considered for the bilingual vacancy).

Nursing skills:

• You are knowledgeable in nursing theories and practices.
• You are able to interpret and apply relevant legislation.
• You have effective assessment, reasoning, judgment and analytical skills.
• You can identify and evaluate health care issues and determine appropriate treatment.

Communication skills:

• You use your communication and counselling skills to deal effectively with staff and clients.
• You are able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and work with a diverse client group.
• You can use a computer to prepare reports and input and retrieve offender information.

Other important skills:

• You have developed effective assessment, reasoning, judgment and analytical skills.
• You have basic computer skills and working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and email.
