The Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation, International Representation Branch, Investment Lead Generation Unit has challenging opportunities to support an international sales team to attract foreign investment to Ontario.
What can I expect to do in this role?
• work closely with networks of international business development representatives in the United States, Europe and Asia to promote investment in Ontario
• work directly with senior corporate contacts and government partners to evaluate and advance investment prospects
• design, oversee, and undertake research to support direct marketing and lead generation campaigns, and evaluate incoming investment opportunities
• develop, coordinate, and execute direct marketing campaigns and design and implement investment lead generation activities in cooperation with Marketing Branch colleagues and Ministry sector experts,
• provide oversight and monitoring of the Ministry's customer relationship management software (eCRM)
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• you have the ability to undertake occasional travel within Ontario
Technical Knowledge:
You have knowledge of:
• sales, economic development, investment and marketing theories and the ability to apply research and selling tools and techniques to meet clients' business needs
• economic cycles, market upheavals and business management operations to effectively understand and target investment opportunities
• Ontario's sectors, markets, business climate and competitive advantages for investment attraction including provincial, federal and municipal economic development programs, services and resources to assist in foreign and domestic attraction and sector campaigns
• current and emerging investment and industry issues (e.g. contracting economy, increasing competition) and their impacts to assess and evaluate impact on prospects and meeting of Ontario's investment goals
Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills:
• you have oral and written communication skills to support clients and prepare a variety of reports and deliver presentations
• you have relationship management skills to effectively work with stakeholders and provide advice, training and guidance
Research and Analytical Skills:
• you have judgement, analytical and evaluation skills to quickly, accurately and consistently triage a large volume of incoming opportunities
• you have research and analytical skills to determine extent of research and resources required to analyze and evaluate leads and opportunities
Project Management Skills:
• you have knowledge of project management theories, principles and techniques to lead and co-ordinate multiple, concurrent sector campaigns
• you have knowledge of procurement processes to participate in development of documents and provide input on contractor selection
Political Acuity:
• you display tact and political acuity when dealing with opportunities with political elements
• you display professionalism, high ethical standards and are able to maintain appropriate confidentiality to establish credibility and relationships with clients
Computer Proficiency:
• you have knowledge of computer operations and relevant software (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics/other eCRM, word processing, database management, PowerPoint, Excel, Prezi) to develop and prepare reports, maintain and manage documents
