Are you a self motivated individual that can lead a small group of park interpreters to deliver theme based programming and provide technical leadership and guidance? If so, then Neys Park is the place for you.

Neys Provincial Park is a natural environment class park located 26 km west of Marathon. Annual visitation is approximately 32,000. The park has 144 campsites and day use facilities for 75 vehicles. The main features of the park include the 2 km sand beach on Lake Superior, the rugged coastline, electrical campsites and over 6 km of trails.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Senior Park Interpreter you will:

• provide technical, operational, monitoring and group leadership duties
• organize, schedule and provide recreational and naturalist activities
• participate in hiring, identify training needs of staff and assign work
• organize and prepare displays, pamphlets and news releases
• develop and implement a parks extension program for visitors
• collect and organize statistics, prepare annual operating strategies and year end reports
• advise, report, or record violations and complaints to the duty officer

Please Note: Successful candidate may be eligible for accommodation in onsite staff housing.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• You must have the ability to work shifts on weekends and statutory holidays.
• You must be able to obtain an Emergency First Aid Certificate.
• You must possess a valid driver's license to travel within the park.

Technical knowledge and interpretive skills:

• You possess knowledge of resource management principles and techniques.
• You have the ability to interpret relevant acts, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• You are knowledgeable of natural sciences, ecosystems and culture.

Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills:

• You demonstrate group leadership, organization, research and presentation skills.
• You have proven interpersonal and communication skills to deal with clients, park staff and park visitors.
• You have the ability to work independently, follow and carry out instructions.

Computer skills:

• You are able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher etc.), Internet and e-mail software applications.
• You are able to manage electronic records.
• You have the ability to operate and maintain audio-visual equipment and cameras.

Recreational knowledge:

• You possess working knowledge of and skills in outdoor recreational activities such as hiking and camping.
