What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:
-plan, design, construct, rehabilitate and maintain projects of bridges and other transportation structures
-inspect transportation structures such as bridges, culverts and overhead signs and planning and design of standardized structures.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
-you have a valid Class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario to conduct field visits where public transit is not available
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
-you have knowledge of structural engineering principles and related areas of structural planning, design, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction
-you have extensive knowledge of bridge inspection methods and equipment
-you are experienced with drafting techniques and specialized instruments
-you have working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and common office computer programs (Word, Excel, Access)
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
-you have strong oral and written communication skills
-you have demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
-you have the demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve conflict
Project Management and Technical Administration:
-you have demonstrated project management skills to act as project manager for structural projects
-you have experience with contract preparation and delivery processes
-you have knowledge of consultant acquisition processes and consultant legal agreements
Decision Making Skills:
-you have demonstrated investigative, analytical, evaluation and problem solving skills with proven ability to make technical decisions to rectify structural problems.
