What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• manage, track, handle, process, store applications throughout the application process
• organize and verify documentation in each application to ensure it is complete and ready for assessment
• prepare and issue all program letters to applicants, including but not limited to acknowledgement, missing information, work permit support and decision letters
• provide direct service, guidance and assistance to clients, stakeholders, other governmental and non-governmental agencies and the general public
• generate statistical reports and queries on application trends, characteristics and service timeframes

How do I qualify?

Immigration Knowledge and Experience:

• you have knowledge of immigration selection programs in Canada to provide accurate information in response to inquiries and to provide appropriate advice and assistance to clients
• you know and can interpret and apply the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR)
• you have knowledge of Canadian immigration documents, work reference documents, Canadian Revenue Agency financial documents, educational credential documents
• you can properly assess supporting documents submitted to the program and detecting fraudulent documents

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

• you can assess PNP applications for completeness and compliance with established specific criteria and required documentation
• you can identify trends in applications, resolve client complaints and resolve problems where clear application of existing practice or process may not be readily available
• you can compile metrics and trends from applications and follow-ups with clients, as well as conduct analysis based on compiled metrics

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• you can provide assistance to applicants by explaining program criteria and procedures, requesting additional or missing information
• you can discuss PNP files and status with consultants and managers
• you can prepare letters with details regarding the specifics of each application, for example missing documentation
• you can conduct independent interviews of clients, in person and by phone, as well as conduct site visits as required to ascertain information related to clients' applications to the program and calm irate clients

Computer Skills:

• you have knowledge of case processing systems, operations of personal computers along with the Microsoft Suite of applications
• you can use spreadsheet programs to produce program materials and templates, develop and maintain tracking systems, and produce PNP status reports
• you can prepare statistical reports from queries in PNP case processing systems and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel)
