The Ministry of the Environment' s, Technical Support Section seeks an individual to support the Northern Region's permit to take water program. You will work with a diverse team and clients and utilize your knowledge and understanding of the methods and techniques of water resources management.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• coordinate regional reviews of complex Permit to Take Water (PTTW) applications;
• review and evaluate non-complex PTTW applications;
• conduct field surveys, inspections and impact assessments;
• respond to client's requests for data and advice;
• provide information and guidance to applicants, agencies and the public respecting the PTTW program.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• You possess a degree with specialization in a natural science discipline such as Hydrology, Biology, Environmental Studies, Physical Geography or Water Resources.
• You have a valid driver's licence to complete field work.

Technical expertise:

• You have knowledge of the natural sciences field, normally acquired through a degree in Natural Sciences.
• You have proven experience and ability to understand and apply applicable legislation, policies, guidelines, and procedures related to permanent to take water program.
• You have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of water resources management.

General skills:

• You have well developed communication skills to prepare and present technical information and Ministry positions.
• You have analytical, problem solving and project management skills to design and evaluate environmental issues and ensure proper workflow.
• You have reasoning skills to avoid conflict and achieve consensus with clients.
• You have well developed computer skills; knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, database programs.
