Are you a strategic thinker with demonstrated policy development, communication skills and technical expertise in wetland conservation? If so, bring your skills to Biodiversity Policy Section in this vital role of Senior Wetlands Biologist, and help to ensure wetlands are sustainably managed in Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:

• Lead the review and development of provincial wetland conservation policies, legislation and programs to enhance wetland and associated upland habitat conservation.
• Lead or participate on provincial multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to strategic resource planning and make recommendations related to sustainable resource management.
• Work on key strategic policies with other ministries, government agencies and the federal government, as well as a diverse group of stakeholders and partners.
• Coordinate consistent delivery of wetland conservation programs and activities.
• Provide expert biological and resource management advice.

How do I qualify?

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• You have strong knowledge and progressive experience in the application of current ecological, biological and natural resources management principles.
• You have the ability to develop, interpret and apply relevant legislation, acts, policy, practices and procedures.
• You have knowledge of computer-based analytical, data management and modeling techniques as well as computer program proficiency.

ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

• You are able to analyze, reason, problem-solve and make recommendations.

COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

• You have demonstrated oral, written, communication and presentation skills;
• You have consultation, facilitation and negotiation experience and abilities;
• You are able to provide project management, organizational and team leadership expertise.
