Do you have training in aircraft maintenance? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on experience? If so, then consider this exciting opportunity with The Ministry of Natural Resources' Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.

Please note: The location will be dependent on the successful candidate.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As one of the apprentices, you will provide maintenance services to the fleet of Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources' aircraft by:

• assisting licensed aircraft engineers with inspecting aircrafts to detect faults
• analyzing pilot reported flight defects
• assisting with all necessary repairs or adjustments
• determining repair or rectification procedures
• assisting pilots with loading aircraft and security cargo
• installing and removing special equipment

Note: Apprentices will have the ability to progress to the Maintenance Mechanic 2 classification upon successful completion of 12 months at the Maintenance Mechanic 1 classification.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• successful completion of training in aircraft maintenance through a Transport Canada approved training course, such as a two-year technology diploma program
• ability to obtain a Restricted Radio Operator's Certificate
• ability to obtain airport security clearance per regulatory requirements

Knowledge of aircraft maintenance:

• knowledge of specialized methods and techniques of aircraft maintenance
• knowledge of the proper function of engines, flight, hydraulic, avionics, undercarriage and propulsion systems
• knowledge of the interaction of aircraft systems to assist in evaluating and classifying flight defects

General skills:

• interpersonal and communication skills to clearly convey technical information
• analytical skills to assist in determining the cause of the aircraft deficiencies

Technical skills:

• ability to use precision tools, hand tools and related aircraft test equipment
• ability to work with computerized maintenance systems
• ability to work with a high degree of coordination and dexterity and the ability to lift and manipulate aircraft components
