What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

- assist in the implementation and monitoring of wood measurement activities
- carry out the check scaling program and implement the sampling program
- assist with scaling audits
- participate in training programs

Please note: This position will require extensive overnight travel in the designated area.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

- You must possess a valid scaler's licence.
- You must also possess a valid driver's licence to conduct field work.

Specialized knowledge:

- sound knowledge of resource and forest management practices and forest industry operations
- ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations and policies

Technical skills:

- demonstrated ability to carry out field scaling activities, sampling for scaling factors and check scaling
- ability to provide wood measurement technical guidance and direction to field personnel

People skills:

- established communication and interpersonal skills to instruct scaler's and deal with forest industry officials, other agencies and public
- demonstrated customer service skills and ability to apply tact and judgement

Other important skills:

- organizational and reasoning skills
- ability to work independently
- proficient using a computer and a variety of software packages and use of electronic data collection devices
