What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• provide environmental operational program expertise to internal and external clients within specified programs
• lead continuous improvement initiatives, identify operational trends, issues or gaps in program delivery and develop recommendations
• provide advice and guidance to project teams
• analyze program training needs
• prepare reports summarizing program performance
• make presentations to senior management and external stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• you have a valid Ontario class 'G' driver's licence in order to conduct field visits and attend meetings across and beyond the Region.

Project Management and Program Development Knowledge:

• you have project management skills and experience
• you know operational planning, program delivery, and program evaluation methods and practices
• you can understand apply training techniques and methods and develop plans that are cost effective

Environmental Knowledge:

• you can interpret and apply environmental protection legislation (e.g. Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Pesticides Act, Environmental Assessment Act), regulations, and guidelines
• you know environmental protection and management theories and policies
• you can interpret and apply industrial processes, pollution control systems, practices and techniques, procedures and standards as they apply to air, land, waste and water issues.

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

• you can research and analyze complex information
• you can assess and develop solutions and strategies that address difficult issues
• you have strong evaluative skills to implement strategies that monitor program delivery

Communication, Conflict-Resolution, and Computer Skills:

• you can communicate technical information in a way that is easy for others to understand
• you can draft a variety of written correspondence, reports, and documents
• you work well with others as part of a team
• you know how to negotiate and build consensus with multiple stakeholders
• you can resolve conflict in cases of competing priorities and contentious issues
• you know how to use computers and related software applications (e.g. MS Office)
