What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• conduct engineering assessments of applications to ensure proposals comply with government environmental requirements
• review and evaluate engineering designs and specifications
• review reports of air emissions and air pollution control technologies
• provide engineering expertise, technical support and guidance
• participate in meetings with various stakeholders
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
You are a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with membership in Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
Air Engineer Knowledge and Skills:
• you know and have experience applying the theories and practices of air pollution control, air emissions management and atmospheric dispersion modelling, as well as chemical, mechanical and environmental engineering
• you can accurately interpret and apply environmental legislation (Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Bill of Rights), regulations, standards, and policies
• you know the full range of sources of air emissions, contaminants, and pollution control technologies and their environmental impacts
Analytical, Project Management and Negotiation Skills:
• you know how to organize your work and plan your time effectively to manage multiple concurrent projects
• you can negotiate with key stakeholders and mediate disputes
• you can solve problems successfully and manage contentious issues
• you know how to analyze complex technical information and prepare clear, concise reports
• you have project management experience
Communications and Computer Skills:
• you can communicate in a clear and concise manner to various audiences
• you can develop a variety of written materials including reports, briefing notes, presentations, etc.
• you work well with others and establish good working relationships
• you know how to use computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, Internet and database applications
