The Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board in the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, seeks Senior Policy Advisors to provide support to secretariat management and the Board. The Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board is an arms-length advisory agency that makes recommendations to the Minister on applications to offer degree programs and use the term “university”.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will:
• develop academic and institutional review procedures and quality assurance standards
• communicate with stakeholders and prospective applicants including faculty, senior administration of universities and other postsecondary education institutions
• conduct preliminary quality analyses for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs
• liaise with academic appraisers, regulators, and other quality assurance agencies
• lead research, development and implementation of complex policy projects pertaining to higher education quality assurance, degree granting, degree learning outcomes
• lead project staff

How do I qualify?

Knowledge of Degree-Related Activities, Models and Learning Outcome Assessments:

• you have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of legislation, regulations, and policies pertaining to degree granting activities in Ontario in order to support the work of the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB), and make recommendations on the board's criteria, procedures and policies
• you demonstrate knowledge of provincial, national and international degree-related quality assurance models, practices, criteria and degree learning outcome assessments

Research, Analytical and Project Management Skills:

• you have proven research and analytical skills to coordinate in-depth research and analysis of degree-level curriculum and postsecondary education institutions' policy and administrative environment, analyze and identify implications of educational performance indicators and to develop policy options and recommendations
• you have demonstrated project management skills to scope work, articulate deliverables, establish timelines and report performance outcomes

Communication Skills:

• you have interpersonal skills to liaise and consult with internal and external bodies, coordinate teams, and promote the cooperation of universities, colleges, and other stakeholders
• you demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills to provide advice and consultation, oversee the preparation and delivery of presentations, and to prepare correspondence reports and briefings
