Use your extensive environmental planning skills to support the protection, conservation, and management of Ontario's environmental resources!

What can I expect to do in this role?

To ensure sound management of environmental resources through appropriate planning decisions, you will:

• Review environmental resource management documents
• Identify environmental concerns and issues (land use conflicts, waste sites, etc.)
• Provide regional expertise, legislative and policy advice
• Coordinate regional environmental assessment programs and planning programs
• Evaluate applications and projects for approval under Class Environmental Assessment requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act including Part II Orders

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Valid Ontario class G Ontario driver's license

Environmental Knowledge

• You have experience applying the theories, principles and practices of land use planning, environmental assessment processes, and environmental sciences including ecosystem and media specific natural environmental management components.
• You know relevant legislation (e.g. Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act).
• You can interpret and apply related manuals, policies, guidelines and procedures

Organizational, Analytical, and Conflict-Resolution Skills

• You are organized and demonstrate strong initiative
• You can plan and coordinate a number of competing priorities
• You can assess complex information using your technical and evaluative skills
• You have proven negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills to reach consensus towards a suitable outcome
• You demonstrate strong research and analytical skills

Communication and Computer Skills

• You can develop positive working relationships with colleagues and clients
• You communicate and present information in a clear manner to a variety of audiences
• You can plan and coordinate ministry responses to environmental issues
• You know how to develop a variety of written materials (e.g. briefing notes, reports, correspondence)
• You can use computer software and related applications (e.g. MS Office)
