If you have great research and analytical skills along with a background in land use planning, consider joining our team where we provide leadership in land use planning and promote innovative practices to improve Ontario's land use planning system.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• participate in conducting research, analysis and review on land use planning issues, policies and legislation
• prepare reports and make recommendations
• participate on committees to review recommendations on planning issues, program implementation and delivery
• assist with the review, analysis and recommendations on provincial planning documents
• prepare correspondence and briefing materials

How do I qualify?

Technical knowledge and experience:

• You have demonstrated knowledge and experience with land use planning systems and the ability to apply and interpret related legislation and provincial policies (example: Municipal Act, Provincial Policy Statement) in order to explain legislation, provincial policies and programs related to land use planning and to convey and explain detailed information to staff.

Research, analytical and evaluative skills:

• You have strong research and analytical skills to research information, analyze problems, develop preliminary recommendations and strategies and evaluate and assess provincial planning issues.

Organizational and judgement skills:

You have:
• well developed organization skills to carry out assigned projects and meet tight deadlines with minimum supervision
• good sense of judgement

Communication and interpersonal skills:

You have:
• written communication skills to prepare preliminary reports, briefing notes for senior staff and prepare correspondence on land use planning related issues
• well developed verbal communication skills to explain related legislation, provincial policies, standards and programs to staff
• good interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and develop cooperative working relationships

Computer skills:

You have:
• computer proficiency to use word processing and data analysis software to prepare reports, letters, memoranda, charts and tables
• familiarity with Geographic Information Systems
