What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• lead and provide biological expertise and input to resource management reviews and planning processes across the region on the ecology and management of fish and wildlife, wetland, water management and forest management
• provide leadership to and participating on integrated regional resource management planning teams
• participate and/or lead the development or review of resource management plans for fish, wildlife, wetlands, water, forest and watersheds across the region
• provide expertise and advice to the regional management on the development and management of review and planning processes
• support public advisory councils and resource management planning teams by providing input on plan development and approval processes
• prepare technical reports and briefing notes for senior management

How do I qualify?

Technical expertise:

• You have knowledge of biological theory, principles and practices, modelling tools and applications as related to resource management planning and integrated land use planning.
• You have knowledge of resource planning requirements and practices to participate or lead a variety of resource management plans such as fisheries management plans and water management plans.

Relationship management and leadership skills:

• You can develop and maintain effective relationships on behalf of the regions with a variety of stakeholders including aboriginal communities and inter-agency planning and task team staff.
• You have group leadership skills to support and provide guidance to planning teams.

Project management, organizational and coordination skills:

• You have solid project management skills to lead and participate on integrated regional resource management planning teams for a variety of projects.
• You can coordinate and organize the development and approval of planning processes.

Analytical, reasoning, problem-solving and consensus building skills:

• You have analytical skills to review and provide input into resource management plans.
• Using your reasoning and problem-solving skills you are able to respond to stakeholder issues and provide recommendations and options to resolve complex issues.
• You are skilled at considering the varied interests of stakeholders and gaining consensus when working with planning teams.
• You can interpret and apply relevant legislation such as Crown Forest Sustainability Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act and Endangered Species Act.

Oral and written communication skills:

• You have well developed communication skills to provide advice, guidance and recommendations on the biological aspects of resource management plans to planning teams, staff and management.
• You can prepare submissions, briefing material, plan review documents and corporate correspondence.
• You have experience making presentations to a variety of groups.
