The Ministry of Transportation, Policy and Planning Division is seeking an individual to participate in and support the research and analysis services related to the development of freight policy proposals

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

-undertake research and analytical studies in support of the development of policy initiatives
-coordinate and plan research study designs, resource requirements and methods to address issues
-identify and develop the most appropriate study design and modeling techniques to facilitate data analysis
-prepare and document research findings to provide recommendations to senior management
-liaise with various stakeholders to interpret research and study results and monitor trends

How do I qualify?

Policy and Program Development

-you have knowledge of program and policy development processes to analyze and prepare policy and program options and recommendations
-you have knowledge of multi-modal freight transportation theory and principles related to transportation marketplace and economics
-you have knowledge of policy and program directions and processes to recommend on stakeholder issues

Analytical, Research and Project Planning Skills:

-you have knowledge of research methods and techniques to develop study designs and procedural methods, data gathering and analysis
-you have analytical and research skills to assess requirements and determine techniques
-you have analytical skills to define freight transportation policy issues and to prepare recommendations
- you have project planning skills to establish priorities and estimate resources to ensure completion of studies

Interpersonal ,Communication and Consultation Skills

-you have written communication skills to prepare technical reports and present proposals
- you have interpersonal skills to liaise with ministry staff and various stakeholders
-you have presentation skills to discuss policy research results and represent the branch
- you have consultation skills to exchange information and maintain liaison with various stakeholders on policy issues and emerging developments

Computer skills

-you have knowledge of computer software applications such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, simulation software and presentations to prepare own materials
