An exciting opportunity exists with the Planning and Expenditure Management Division, Office of the Treasury Board! Consider this position where you will provide effective leadership and policy advice on economic and financial issues.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• provide analysis and advice on fiscal strategy and policy priorities and issues
• support business planning, estimates and budget processes for assigned ministries
• assess the impacts of new policy and business initiatives
• liaise and build relationships with stakeholders
• prepare and present complex fiscal and budgetary presentations, briefings notes and reports to senior management
• provide technical guidance and leadership to team members
How do I qualify?
Technical Expertise:
• You have demonstrated abilities in mathematical problem solving and analysis
• You have demonstrated knowledge of fiscal and economic analysis, and fiscal policy development
• You are familiar with trends in fiscal and economic policy
• You have knowledge of accounting, budget planning, expenditure management and risk analysis
• You have knowledge of results-based management and government decision-making processes
• You have knowledge of fiscal and expenditure structure of government and understanding of public finance
Communication, Negotiation and Relationship Building Skills:
• You can build effective relationships with senior management and stakeholders
• You can act as the key contact for client ministries in dealing with fiscal and budgetary issues
• You can provide advice to client ministries and respond to issues
• You can prepare and present briefings to senior management
Leadership, Teamwork and Time Management Skills:
• You can lead team members on technical subject matters and clearly define roles and responsibilities within a team
• You can ensure current and accurate numerical information is available to meet tight timelines
Analytical, Problem Solving and Research Skills:
• You can analyze policy proposals, provide advice on implications, and develop policy options for decision-makers
• You can pay attention to detail in order to find, correct and avoid numerical errors
