About the job

As an Analyst, Finance and Audit, you'll drive impactful change by developing best practices, performing financial analysis, and offering advice to senior management. Your daily tasks will vary, including activities such as:

• performing financial reviews of transfer payment recipients' financial submissions
• developing, fostering and sustaining strong working relationships with transfer payment recipients
• implementing funding through transfer payment agreements
• working on special projects and providing input to enhance the financial accountability framework for the ministry's child care and early years funding

What you bring to the team


Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

You have:
• research skills to assess and evaluate audit risk, child care sector issues and trends, and recommend the development of audit best practices
• analytical and problem-solving skills to develop tools and deliver training that supports funding guidelines
• high level of proficiency with Excel and demonstrated experience creating financial reports and analysis

Accounting and financial analysis skills

You have:
• experience completing financial analysis, reviewing/analyzing audit reports and conducting/participating in research projects on audit procedures and best practices
• knowledge of accounting principles and auditing practices

Communication and interpersonal skills

You have:
• demonstrated communication skills to share information and build good relationships with transfer payment recipients and within the ministry
• the ability to prepare and present briefing notes and financial reports to senior management
• presentation skills to introduce new information requirements and conduct training sessions for transfer payment recipients

Project and change management skills

You have:
• time management skills to manage multiple projects and provide timely customer service to transfer payment recipients within tight deadlines
• change management skills to support innovative approaches to support accountability best practices that align with provincial transfer payment responsibilities
