About the job

In this role, you will:

• Research and complete title searches
• Process acquisition, sale, lease and other agreements
• Complete the conveyance of real estate transactions
• Perform expropriation procedures
• Maintain an accurate electronic land inventory
• Investigate and analyze property tax status and assessed values of land inventory and initiate corrective action

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Real Estate Knowledge:

• You have thorough knowledge of Ontario real-estate practices
• You are able to interpret and apply legal terminology, regulations and legislation (e.g. Land Registration Reforms Act, Expropriations Act, Registry Act, Business Corporations Act)
• You have experience in title searching and processing agreements
• You know how to prepare legal documentation
• You have experience with expropriation methods

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You are able to compose letters, legal documents and reports
• You know how to compose public notices for the expropriation process
• You can build and maintain effective working relationships
• You are able to respond to requisitions from lawyers in order to finalize the conveyance of real property

Analytical and Evaluative Skills:

• You can review and interpret abstracts, reference plans, expropriation plans, assumption plans and other legal and real estate plans
• You are able to evaluate if agreements have been properly executed, witnessed and sealed
• You are able to identify and resolve discrepancies and deficiencies
• You have strong mathematical skills to calculate and adjust compensation on closing

Computer Skills:

• You are proficient with computers and computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet and database (e.g. MS Office and Teraview)
