Please note: Effective April 1, 2025, the salary range for this position is $95,475 to $138,770 per year.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Health Services Division, seeks a Pharmacist to join the Clinical Services Branch as the Manager, Clinical Services Pharmacy. This unique and challenging position offers an opportunity to showcase your extensive technical expertise, knowledge and skills in the administration and oversight of correctional health care as it relates to pharmacy services. The Manager, Clinical Services Pharmacy, will provide oversight to pharmacists within institutions across the province, providing guidance and expertise to staff, and working collaboratively to establish pharmaceutical and medication strategies and delivery systems which will guide practitioners in the field.
Note: This position will require travelling province-wide.
Who We Are
The Clinical Services Branch (CSB) is responsible for the strategic planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programs that support the delivery of "whole of health" care services within correctional facilities across the province. The CSB oversees operations in areas such as Mental Health and Addictions, Equitable Health Care, Nutrition and Accessibility, and Occupational Health and Safety. CSB ensures, through direct support and oversight, a standardized client-centered model of care that meets the diverse and unique needs of the incarcerated patients in Ontario provincial corrections.

• Initiate and monitor continuous quality improvement and provide expert advice and recommendations on on-going pharmacy related issues.

• Ensure consistency with ministry and professional Standards of Practice.
• Lead the development of health care initiatives and projects in a changing environment.

What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You are currently registered as a Pharmacist in good standing with College of Pharmacists of Ontario.
Leadership and Change Management Skills
• You have demonstrated management and leadership skills to develop organizational capacity through positive and values-based leadership, inclusive and engaged teams, and partnerships.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of relevant human resources principles to develop organizational capacity, set goals and performance standards.

Specialized Knowledge
• You have sound clinical knowledge and experience in health care administration and evidence-based health care practices and programs to ensure effective delivery of health services at correctional facilities province-wide.
• You understand the correctional environment and philosophies in order to develop and implement health care programs and practices in correctional facilities.
• You can interpret and apply the Practice Standards and relevant legislation (e.g., Regulated Health Professions Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Pharmacy Act, Mental Health Act, Health Protection and Promotion Act, etc.).
• You can lead the procurement of drugs and pharmacy systems.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You can provide consultation and expertise to facility staff and managers.
• You can prepare and present training programs.
• You have strong writing skills to prepare complex and specialized reports, correspondence and decision-making material for senior executives.
• You have demonstrated relationship management, consultation and conflict resolution skills.
Strategic Thinking and Project Planning
• You can recommend strategies to address challenges and issues related to health care performance measures, and you can manage and mitigate risks.
• You have good judgment and analytical skills to identify gaps in service standards, develop recommendations and remedial action plans, monitor and implement corrective measures.
• You can support policy and procedural development as it relates to pharmacy practices and standards.
• You can develop strategic plans, manage assigned projects from start through completion, and provide leadership and direction to project staff.
