The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services is looking for a reliable Motor Vehicle Operators to join the Roy McMurtry Youth Centre team, where responsibilities will include ensuring the safe and punctual delivery and pick up of meals, laundry and waste management, as well as the transportation of young persons.

In this role, you will:
• drive institutional vehicles for pick-up and delivery of persons and materials
• ensure inspections and routine maintenance are regularly performed for safe operations
• keep maintenance records of vehicle
• take inventory of motor vehicle equipment and supplies
• assign work to young persons assigned to assist with various tasks and evaluate their performance
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You must have a valid class "G" driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
Motor vehicle operation:
• You have demonstrated knowledge of vehicle operating requirements and driving techniques, including through knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and regulations.
• You have reasoning and problem-solving skills to change or adjust driving routes and assess need for vehicle maintenance.
Motor vehicle maintenance:
• You have the ability to operate, maintain and perform minor repairs of motor vehicles.
• You have ability to maintain records of operation including mileage record, fuel consumption, operating expenses and records of maintenance and ability to keep vehicle in good operating condition.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
• You have interpersonal and communication skills to interact with the public, facility and Ministry staff and the youth.
• You have written communication skills to maintain vehicle logs, clerical and case management records.
• You have the ability to supervise, instruct, train and educate youth.
Technical knowledge and ability:
• You have knowledge of waste management and cleaning of vehicles, along with Work Hazardous Materials Information System.
• You have the physical ability to load and unload supplies, equipment and materials which may be heavy.
