About the job

In this role, you will:
• Lead the design of safe, sustainable, and accessible facilities for Ontario's provincial parks.
• Ensure all projects meet architectural standards and comply with building codes and regulations.
• Oversee project planning and coordination across multiple disciplines to deliver quality results on time.
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to technical staff and consultants.
• Review and approve architectural drawings and specifications to maintain excellence and consistency.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You must hold a degree in architecture from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• You are a registered member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Architects or licensed by another Canadian Provincial/Territorial Association of Architects, including the ability to affix Architects seal to requisite plans.
• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid G license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's license upon being hired.

Professional Architectural Knowledge and Regulatory Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of architectural theories, principles, practices, Ontario Building Code (OBC), Fire Code, and related legislation.
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory guidelines and ensure compliance in all design phases.

Project Management and Planning Skills

• Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and implement multiple projects within established timelines and standards.
• Skilled in developing work programs, setting priorities, and balancing competing demands.
• Experience in reviewing project plans, drawings, and contract documents to meet schedules and quality standards.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Ability

• Ability to review and analyze client requests, proposals, and designs to recommend cost-effective and innovative solutions.
• Skilled in evaluating alternative design and construction methods and auditing adherence to standards.
• Competence in conducting on-site investigations and resolving development issues.

Leadership and Team Guidance

• Experience providing direction and guidance to technical staff, consultants, and stakeholders on architectural standards and compliance.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure coordination across engineering disciplines.
• Skilled in mentoring and maintaining professional standards within the team.

Communication and Consultation Skills

• Strong ability to provide expert advice and consulting services to managers, park staff, and external consultants.
• Effective interpersonal skills for negotiating, interpreting standards, and maintaining professional relationships.
• Competence in preparing clear documentation and presenting recommendations.
