About the job

You will be part of a team developing and delivering regional transportation plans across the Province which have significant impact on and support of ministry strategic directions by:

• Identifying long-term transportation planning issues and research needs
• Providing research and advice on a range of transportation planning issues
• Leading and participating on multiple teams to support transportation planning initiatives, representing the ministry on committees, working groups as well as with stakeholders/agencies
• Supporting consultation and stakeholder engagement activities
• Preparing planning reports, discussion papers, briefing materials and presentations
• Delivering presentations to senior management, advisory groups and elected officials

What you bring to the team


Transportation Planning Knowledge

• You have applied knowledge of policy development processes and strategic planning
• You have knowledge of multi-modal transportation theory, principles and current practice
• You have knowledge of provincial transportation planning and policy contexts including land use planning
• You have knowledge of government direction, municipal structure and priorities and the interests of consumers and the private sector to assess reports and issues

Analytical and Project Management Skills

• You have demonstrated analytical skills to complete analysis and evaluation of findings
• You can identify issues, assess implications and develop solutions
• You have proven project management skills to lead and participate in concurrent projects

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have strong communication skills to prepare written materials and to make presentation to various audiences
• You have interpersonal skills to build relationships, work on teams and represent the ministry
• You have conducted consultations with stakeholders to exchange information, present positions, identify interests and gain consensus
