About our unitThe Market Housing Projects Unit leads the ministry's work, and coordinates across government, to facilitate the use of surplus government lands to support housing policy objectives and other social policy objectives (e.g. long-term care).
About the job
In this role, you will:
• Lead and/or participate in developing policy, programs and legislation/regulations in support of the government's market housing initiatives and the use and disposition of government surplus lands
• Undertake highly technical research, economic and evaluation studies
• Liaise with ministry and external stakeholders to consult, evaluate and respond to issues
• Provide advice and input to support government communications and decision-making

Technical knowledge and stakeholder management skills:
You have the ability to:
• understand and apply knowledge of government housing commitments to emerging issues
• interpret policies, legislation, and programs affecting Ontario's housing market and surplus land use
• build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and inter-ministerial partners
Policy knowledge and issues management skills
You have the ability to:
• develop and implement policies, programs and frameworks
• understand and navigate decision-making environments and accountability frameworks to evaluate and interpret complex issues
• apply sound judgment and strategic thinking to resolve issues, shape options, and prepare documents for decision-making
Research, analytical and project management skills
You have the ability to:
• design and execute both qualitative and quantitative research approaches
• assess financial and economic impacts across diverse policy issues
• lead project teams, manage timelines, and navigate competing priorities
• structure and deliver projects of varying scope and sensitivity
Communication, consultation and presentation skills:
You have the ability to:
• prepare detailed policy proposals, briefings, reports, and business cases
• advise senior management, negotiate effectively, and communicate complex issues
• lead and participate in consultations using strong communication and engagement strategies
Computer skills:
• You have the ability to use a wide range of digital tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, collaborative platforms, and data analysis software to produce work
