Consider this challenging opportunity with the Corporate Services Division of the Ministry of Transportation, where you will ensure the security and transportation of various high-profile clients and important documents in a safe and timely manner.

About the job

In this position, you will:

• Provide technical support in emerging technologies by researching and assisting in implementation of software to enhance service delivery.
• Coordinate the ETS dispatch function by liaising with clients to determine and plan all aspects of their trip including providing direction and supervision to chauffeurs for the provision of transportation services.
• Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair appointments for executive vehicles
• Think quickly on to your feet to solve practical problems, react quickly to changing circumstances, and multi-task in a fast paced environment

Note: You may be required to fill in for chauffeurs in high-demand circumstances.

Position works one of two shifts: 6am - 2:30pm and 2pm - 10:30pm.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• The positions require the successful candidates to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Fleet / Dispatch Technical Knowledge

• You have knowledge of administrative and scheduling processes related to dispatching of ground transportation, driver scheduling and vehicle maintenance.
• You have knowledge of security procedures and practices.
• You have knowledge of operating requirements for various types of vehicles, vehicle technology, fleet management and vehicle maintenance.
• You must be familiar with Toronto and Ontario road network and ability to determine efficient routes and set timelines.

Problem Solving Skills

• You have strong problem-solving skills to solve practical problems, react quickly to changing circumstances, and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• You have the ability to work within a high pressure environment with constantly changing priorities and respond to urgent requests in a short time frames including the ability to make operational decisions related to resource/staffing deployment.
• You are able to demonstrate a clear understanding of expected outcomes and deliver in a timely manner. Seek assistance when necessary and accept responsibility for results.

Communication Skills

You have:
• written and oral communication , tact and negotiation skills when discussing/delivering services to clients and Cabinet office courier service provider, interact with contacts when responding to clients regarding potentially sensitive/volatile situations
• phone etiquette, telephone manners, listening skills, voice quality, diction, articulation, spelling and grammar in completing daily tasks
• ability to appreciate and understand formal and informal relationships within organizations and political structure, and be aware how your actions could affect individuals and groups (political acuity)

Organizational Skills

• You have strong organizational skills, including punctuality, attention to detail and portraying a professional appearance at all times while distributing workload assignments, chauffeuring and assisting clients.
• You have demonstrated planning and organizational skills to coordinate, implement, assign, and prioritize work and work priorities and manage time effectively while placing appropriate emphasis on excellence and speed of response in work performance.
• You are able to work independently and as part of a team.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• You have strong computer Windows-based skills with excellent working ability of MS Office and Outlook and database/spreadsheet skills including data entry, operate fleet management systems, write queries, develop spreadsheets and database applications, and generate regular and ad hoc reports using software applications.
• You have the ability to use electronic and paper maps, directories, guides, route mapping software/applications and GPS navigational devices for best route selection.
• You have knowledge of emerging technologies in the area of communication equipment (i.e. cellular devices and mobile applications, voice and electronic mail, fleet telematics devices).
