About the job

You will:
• Advise clients on interpreting and applying FIPPA, privacy principles, and IPC orders
• Help implement freedom of information and privacy policies across the ministry
• Review records and provide analysis for FOI requests
• Handle complex and sensitive FIPPA requests
• Prepare briefing materials for senior management

Communication and Relationship Management Skills

You bring:
• Strong verbal skills to explain policies and provide advice at all levels
• Clear writing skills to share information and prepare briefings
• Presentation and negotiation skills to promote FOI compliance, resolve issues, and mediate appeals
• A customer-focused approach to build and maintain effective relationships
• Tact and discretion when handling sensitive matters

Technical Knowledge

You bring:
• Understanding of FIPPA, related case law, and privacy legislation to analyze requests and advise on access and privacy initiatives
• Knowledge of privacy risks and mitigation strategies to identify issues and recommend solutions
• Awareness of current and emerging access and privacy principles, practices, and trends to resolve sensitive and complex matters

Advisory and Problem-Solving Skills

You can:
• Handle sensitive and complex FOI issues and develop practical solutions
• Provide clear advice to staff, clients, and senior management on FIPPA requests
• Consult with stakeholders and negotiate timelines for compliance

Coordination and Organizational Skills

You have:
• Ability to plan and manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize multiple projects, and meet legislated timelines
• Strong prioritization skills to ensure compliance with requirements and deadlines
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a confidential environment
• Attention to detail to maintain accurate records
