About the job

In this role, you will:
• plan, direct and implement a Regional Quality Assurance Program in support of numerous complex transportation infrastructure projects
• work to ensure compliance with various administrative, engineering, and quality requirements;
• provide expert technical advice to resolve major and/or contentious engineering and construction issues;
• coordinate and supervise activities/duties carried out by professional and technical staff

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements:

• You currently have accreditation as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian Province or Territory, and you will obtain a Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) license as a condition of accepting this position.
• You possess a valid driver's license or equivalent, as recognized by the province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidates providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Leadership, Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

You:
• are able to supervise and direct the activities of field staff and consultant services and deliver on results
• have interpersonal skills to connect with colleagues, associates and officials to develop and maintain good working relationships
• are able to provide specialized technical advice and direction in quality assurance matters in a clear and effective manner.

Technical Knowledge:

You have:
• practical knowledge in applying the theory, principles and practices of civil engineering (geotechnical, structural, transportation, construction) applicable to highway construction.
• knowledge of highway materials testing, design and construction to comment on consultant designs and provide advice and assistance to senior staff.
• knowledge of project and contract management practices, ministry policies, directives and standards to coordinate the regional QA process.

Research, Evaluation and Judgement Skills:

• You have research, evaluation and judgement skills to investigate issues related to engineering materials' performance and recommend remedial action as well as provide input to design projects, policy and regional administration.

Communication Skills

You have:
• oral communication skills to provide advice, explain requirements of policies and procedures, and give presentations/training sessions to staff and service providers
• written communication skills to prepare various documents and reports
