Automotive Technician to help maintain our fleet of specialized training vehicles and support the delivery of advanced driver training. About the job
As an Automotive Technician at the Ontario Police College, you will play a key role in keeping the Ontario Police College's training fleet safe, reliable, and ready for every scenario.
You will:
• Maintain and service training vehicles, including safety inspections, routine maintenance, minor repairs, and installation of emergency equipment.
• Diagnose and perform major mechanical repairs on engines, steering, electrical, driveline, brake, and transmission systems, including road testing.
• Complete fabrication and technical work such as minor welding and fuel system adjustments.
• Support police driver-training programs by assisting with custom equipment fabrication.
• Provide general garage support, maintain accurate records, and manage parts procurement and inventory.

What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
Applicants must possess the following:
• A valid 310S Mechanic's Licence
• A valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence
• An ability to supply your own tools.
Knowledge & Experience
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of mechanical systems.
• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment, tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge of safety standards and best practices for automotive repair.
Skills
• Strong oral communication skills to discuss repair needs and collaborate with team members.
• Ability to maintain accurate vehicle and parts records.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory tracking.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work to meet program demands.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
